Home-run Readers
"Step up to the plate and read!"
Home-run Readers is a 9-week or 7-week reading challenge that inspires students to read all the way to home plate—one inning at a time!
Launching in September & October, this baseball-themed reading program aligns with the Arizona Fall League season and runs through the end of October, offering kids a fun way to engage with books and the ballpark.
Timeline
• Program times start in mid-September to the beginning of October
• Variable weeks = innings of reading (EX: 7 weeks = 7 innings)
• Full completion = Free ticket to the Arizona Fall League Home Run Derby!
How It Works
1. Parent/Guardian registers the reader by scanning the QR Code
2. Students track their reading progress using a Homerun Readers tracker (one book per
week or chapters for older readers).
3. Teachers or families verify participation.
4. Students who complete all innings earn:
◦ 🎟 One student ticket to the Home Run Derby at Salt River Fields on Saturday, November 7th, 2026
🎟 One companion ticket for a parent, guardian, or guest
◦ 👪 Discounted family tickets
◦ 🎉 Recognition during the game as a HOME RUN READER!
