Business Office

The Nogales Unified School District Business Office oversees several important functions that enable NUSD to exercise fiscal responsibility as we work to serve our students and staff.

This department is dedicated to providing support and fiscal guidance to the school administration and staff, enabling them to focus on addressing the academic and extracurricular needs of our students. For community members wishing to provide financial support to our schools, the department can also assist taxpayers in making tax-deductible contributions to the school program or club of their choice.

Budget

School districts are statutorily required to prepare a proposed budget by July 5 each year. Districts must keep the proposed budget and its related summary on file and make them available to the public upon request. Additionally, per A.R.S. §15-905(A)(2), districts that maintain a website must provide a link on their website to ADE’s website where the district’s proposed budget can be viewed.

The district’s proposed budget is available on the Arizona Department of Education.

Annual Financial Report

State law mandates that school districts are required to undergo an annual single audit and publish a complete set of financial statements presented in conformity with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America. This audit must be under auditing standards generally accepted in the United States of America by a certified public accounting firm licensed in the State of Arizona.

The Annual Financial Report provides that information.

Annual Financial Reports are also available in Microsoft Excel on the
Arizona Department of Education website.

Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR)

The Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) is an abbreviated version of our Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). While the ACFR is voluminous and technically complex, the PAFR provides visuals and graphics to convey the financial message to be understandable for individuals who are not finance or accounting professionals.  The PAFR highlights the educational and financial data for the fiscal year.
