HUGE LITERACY BOWL NEWS! 🏆

The 8th Annual Imagine Learning Literacy Bowl has officially wrapped, and Mary L. Welty Elementary brought the heat! We are beyond thrilled to announce that our students pushed through to become a National Runner-Up! 🥈

From the first page to the final buzzer, our students showed incredible dedication, perseverance, and academic grit. You flexed those learning muscles and proved that Welty truly plays at a national level.

Congratulations to our January Race Towards Perfect Attendance Winners, Ms. A. Lopez's 4th Grade Class! They do not have to wear their uniform all of next week!🎉

Listen up, all you noble steeds and loyal subjects! We’ve hit a 98% attendance rate today! That is definitely worth more than a stack of freshly made waffles.

To celebrate this ogre-sized achievement, Mrs. Silva 👸 has granted a special decree: All students present today are exempt from wearing their uniforms tomorrow! Feel free to ditch the formal attire and dress like you’re heading to a party at the Dragon’s Keep (just keep it school-appropriate, please).

Celebrate America 250: Student Art Contest🎨

The City of Nogales invites K–7 students across Santa Cruz County to participate in a special art contest honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States. This milestone is a meaningful opportunity for students to reflect on what America represents to them and express those visions through their creativity.

Submission Deadline: Friday, February 20, 2026 to Ms. Estrada

Submission Requirements:
📌On the Front: Include a creative title for the piece.
📌On the Back: Please clearly print the student's full name, grade level, and school name.
📌Artist Statement: Students are encouraged to write a brief description on the back explaining the meaning of their artwork and their personal perspective on America.
