Vroom, vroom π! We're racing our way towards perfect attendance! The class that has the best attendance this August will win an entire week of freedom from their uniforms. We have three days to help your class win!
But that's not the only reward! When you come to school like a true hero, you're more likely to grow your brains and make new friends. Remember, just like Shrek says, "Better out than in," and it's always better to be in school than out!
A big ogre-sized thank you to Ms. Michelle for our beautiful display. π

Dear Welty Family,
I wanted to thank you for a wonderful first full week of school. Our students are well on their way to a promising school year! Teachers have been working with your child to help them learn their classroom routines and expectations to provide an enriching, safe, and supportive learning environment.
Communication is an important part of your childβs success. We value your insights, questions, and contributions, and we encourage open dialogue throughout the year.
Part of your childβs success is the help received from home. To assist our English Language Learners, our teachers will provide helpful websites and practice assignments designed for your convenience. Studies have shown that reading to your child allows them to grow their vocabulary skills with exposure to new words that become vital to their academic success. Watching television in English with English captions works too! Taking 30 minutes out of your day will support your childβs learning and ensure academic excellence.
Remember you play an important role in the academic success of your child, and his/her attendance at school is critical. Instruction begins at 7:45 am and ends at 2:45 pm. Please set appointments to coincide with our Early Release days, or during our Fall, Winter, and Spring breaks. Chronically absent students (18 days or more) can result in the inability to read proficiently by 3rd grade, struggling with coursework by 6th grade, and high school students off track for graduation. We are here to help you make sure your child is at school every day. Please communicate with your teacher or front office and administration.
As a part of our focus on providing an enriching and safe environment that is focused on academics, we will be limiting birthday celebrations to a monthly event in classrooms. We will continue our traditions of the Halloween parade, December Holidays Concert and classroom celebration, and Valentineβs Day.
We are also fostering healthy eating every day in the cafeteria and on campus. We have a salad bar available every day! Popular spicy snacks can lead to health issues and low concentration in the afternoon. Flaminβ Hots, Takis, and any other spicy snacks and candies are not allowed. They will be confiscated and returned to their parents.
In closing, we are truly honored to have you and your child as part of our Welty community. Together, we will be creating a memorable and impactful year of learning with your child. We look forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new ones as we come together to shape our future leaders.
Please take note of the following important dates and upcoming events:
*Early release is every Wednesday at 12:45 pm beginning Wednesday, August 13, 2025
*Welty 21st Century Orientation: Thursday, August 28 at 7:15 am.
Warm regards,
Mariebeth Silva, Principal
