Dear Welty Family,
I wanted to thank you for a wonderful first full week of school. Our students are well on their way to a promising school year! Teachers have been working with your child to help them learn their classroom routines and expectations to provide an enriching, safe, and supportive learning environment.
Communication is an important part of your child’s success. We value your insights, questions, and contributions, and we encourage open dialogue throughout the year.
Part of your child’s success is the help received from home. To assist our English Language Learners, our teachers will provide helpful websites and practice assignments designed for your convenience. Studies have shown that reading to your child allows them to grow their vocabulary skills with exposure to new words that become vital to their academic success. Watching television in English with English captions works too! Taking 30 minutes out of your day will support your child’s learning and ensure academic excellence.
Remember you play an important role in the academic success of your child, and his/her attendance at school is critical. Instruction begins at 7:45 am and ends at 2:45 pm. Please set appointments to coincide with our Early Release days, or during our Fall, Winter, and Spring breaks. Chronically absent students (18 days or more) can result in the inability to read proficiently by 3rd grade, struggling with coursework by 6th grade, and high school students off track for graduation. We are here to help you make sure your child is at school every day. Please communicate with your teacher or front office and administration.
As a part of our focus on providing an enriching and safe environment that is focused on academics, we will be limiting birthday celebrations to a monthly event in classrooms. We will continue our traditions of the Halloween parade, December Holidays Concert and classroom celebration, and Valentine’s Day.
We are also fostering healthy eating every day in the cafeteria and on campus. We have a salad bar available every day! Popular spicy snacks can lead to health issues and low concentration in the afternoon. Flamin’ Hots, Takis, and any other spicy snacks and candies are not allowed. They will be confiscated and returned to their parents.
In closing, we are truly honored to have you and your child as part of our Welty community. Together, we will be creating a memorable and impactful year of learning with your child. We look forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new ones as we come together to shape our future leaders.

Get ready to roar, Roadrunners! School is back, and we're so excited to welcome you all back to our swamp!
Thank you to all the parents who showed up for our Meet Your Teacher event today. The ogre-sized fun officially begins tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m.! As you make your way in your carriages through the morning and afternoon drop-off, please remember that many families are just as excited as you are. Be patient with the lines and follow the parking signs and our monitors' instructions.
We're all working hard to make sure these first days of school are a fairy tale-worthy experience for our entire Welty family.

A Roaring Adventure Awaits in the Swamp!
Hello, amazing swamp-dwellers and brave little heroes!
We’re so excited to kick off a brand-new school year filled with magic, laughter, and learning—Shrek-style! Just like Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, and the whole crew, we’re about to set off on a wild and wonderful adventure together.
This year, we’ll dive into enchanted tales as reading champions, cast clever spells as writing wizards, and conquer dragons (or numbers!) as math masters. We’ll explore fascinating worlds in science and discover exciting stories from long ago in social studies. Together, we’ll grow, play, and make this the best year yet!
We can't wait to welcome each of you into our learning kingdom. Get ready to shine, roar, and show the world all the amazing things you can do!

Hello incoming Kindergarten families for the 2025-2026 school year! We're so excited to welcome you to our school.
During your child's registration, you completed a form indicating their primary language. If you indicated a primary language other than English, we highly recommend bringing your child for an AZELLA placement testing session. This assessment helps us determine the best support for their English language development.
