Our Curriculum
At NUSD Online School, we provide both synchronous and asynchronous instruction tosupport diverse learning needs and promote student success. Our goal is to ensure allstudents are college and career ready by equipping them with the academic skills andknowledge necessary for postsecondary success.
Our courses are thoughtfully designed to align with the Arizona Department of Education’sacademic standards, ensuring that students meet all state high school graduationrequirements. Instruction is delivered through a blended learning model that includesdirect teacher interaction, guided discussions, and a variety of oral and writtenassignments—all tailored to foster critical thinking and meaningful engagement.
We utilize the Edgenuity (by Imagine Learning) curriculum for instruction, assignments,and assessments across subject areas. This comprehensive digital platform allows forflexibility while maintaining academic rigor, providing students with a well-rounded andstandards-based educational experience.
Grade Classifications
Grade levels at NUSD Online School are determined by the number of credits a studenthas earned. This credit-based system ensures students progress through their high schoolyears based on their academic achievements.

Grade Scale

The abbreviation "I" stands for "Incomplete," while "NC" stands for "No Credit." An Incomplete grade is given to courses that were started after the beginning of the school year and exceed the six required courses. A No Credit grade is assigned to courses that were started after the beginning of the second semester and go beyond the six required courses.
GPA Calculations
The following are the steps used to calculate the grade point average (GPA) of students:
Assign numerical values to each grade: A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0
Multiply the numerical value of each grade by the number of units of credit for each corresponding course.
Add the resulting values for all courses taken in the semester.
Divide the total sum by the total number of credits attempted to get the GPA
Special Education and Related Services
Our school provides a comprehensive range of programs for students with special needs in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 1997.
Counseling Services
Our academic counselor aims to promote student success through a variety of services. Students and their parents are encouraged to schedule an appointment with the academic counselor to discuss academic issues, state-mandated assessments, post-secondary school information, scholarships, and PEP.
