Nogales Unified School District’s Mary L. Welty and Francisco Vasquez de Coronado Elementary Schools were selected as 2021-2022 Schools of Excellence for their use of the Imagine Language and Literacy and Imagine Math online program, scoring within the top five of schools within Arizona.

Imagine Learning is a program that helps support students at all ability levels in mastering reading and math standards. The School of Excellence award is given to those sites that use the program with fidelity and as a result, demonstrate that the students have increased their reading proficiency as measured by assessment tests.

Magdaline Marganovic, representing Imagine Learning, presented both schools with a banner at the NUSD governing board meeting on July 11, 2022.

Supt. Angel Canto said that both schools had followed the “rigorous usage standards” that are necessary to achieve the desired positive results.
