NHS grad earns college soccer accolades

Marco AmadorMarco Amador, a 2022 graduate of Nogales High School, earned a pair of honors for his play this fall as a midfielder with the South Mountain Community College soccer team.

Amador was named to the Second Team All-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference, as well as receiving Second Team All-Region I Division II honors.

During his freshman season, Amador totaled a team-high five goals and 10 points during the campaign, including the game-winning goal in double overtime against Gateway Community College, the SMCC Athletics Department said in an announcement. 

Amador opened the season with a pair of goals in a match at Paradise Valley CC on Aug. 19, and also scored at Arizona Western on Sept. 10 and again at Paradise Valley CC on Sept. 20. 

He finished with a team-high 22 shots and 13 shots on goal for the year. 

Amador was joined on the SMCC team this fall by a pair of 2022 graduates of Rio Rico High School: freshmen Jacob and Jahaziel Estrada.

South Mountain Community College is located in Phoenix and is part of the Maricopa Community College system.
