Sabina Romero

Nogales High School sophomore Sabina Romero was honored at the Nogales Unified School District governing board meeting May 13, 2019 with the Superintendent’s Outstanding Award after capturing the state championship in the Division II Girls High Jump.

With a jump of five feet, six inches, Romero topped the previous record – which she also held – of five feet-four inches. Supt. Fernando Parra congratulated Romero and presented her with a certificate for her achievement, stating that she was not only a gifted athlete but also an outstanding student with a grade point average of 4.5, because Romero has taken weighted honors classes.

Romero thanked Parra and the governing board for her recognition and credited her father, Eric Romero with working with her since she was in fifth grade.
