The Nogales Unified School governing board approved Christopher Miranda as the Desert Shadows Middle School principal at its meeting May 28, 2019.

Miranda was the assistant principal at DSMS for four years.  He has been with NUSD in various roles, starting in 2004 as a computer technician. He worked as a Career and Technology (CTE) teacher for eight years and was named Pierson High School’s Teacher of the Year in 2009.

Miranda’s educational credentials include earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Educational Technology from the University of Phoenix, a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Master’s in Education Leadership from Arizona State University.

“Mr. Miranda has already had a very positive impact on education in NUSD,” Supt. Fernando Parra said when recommending his hiring to the governing board.
