Summer School Programs
Over 800 students participated in the free Nogales Unified School District summer school programs that were offered over the past two months through various platforms. NUSD offered summer school through Edgenuity, its own NUSD online program with a wide variety of courses from May 24 through June 24. We had a staggering 437 students take advantage of this program.
NUSD also partnered with Arizona State University through ASU Digital Prep and their “open scale” courses. ASU opened up the majority of their summer school courses to NUSD students which, including “open scale courses”were free of charge. NHS students who took advantage of these opportunities not only received high school credit, but they also were able to receive college credit in many of the courses as well. The partnerships formed between NUSD and ASU allowed 473 students to take advantage of these online courses for free.
