Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Diane Douglas visited Nogales Dec. 12, 2017, as part of her campaign to elicit comments from all across the state on concerns and suggestions for the Department of Education. Before turning over microphone to members of the audience, Douglas highlighted her accomplishments and goals as superintendent. Audience members shared with Douglas their concerns about cuts in the grant programs, the complexity of the AzMerit testing and how it is now being used to evaluate teachers and schools rather than just students, and how changes in the Career and Technical Education clubs have impacted schools. Welty Elementary School hosted the event.
